1 Introduction

Emphasis was placed on the educational concept of "cultivating virtue and nurturing talents" proposed in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and it was pointed out that teacher quality is the key to realizing this concept. The article points out that although research has focused on the development of in-service teachers' educational abilities, there is a lack of systematic thinking and practice in cultivating pre service teachers' disciplinary educational abilities. The author proposes that the "English Teaching Method" course plays an important role in cultivating the subject education ability of pre service English teachers, which helps to promote their transformation from "being educated" to "being able to educate", and is of great significance for achieving "moral education".

The connotation and cultivation ideas of subject education ability of English teachers

3 practical paths to promote the development of subject education ability of pre service English teachers

The course is aimed at third year English major students who have a certain theoretical foundation in language learning and teaching, as well as strong learning ability and motivation. Curriculum teachers use both explicit and implicit means to promote the development of subject specific educational abilities among pre service English teachers.

The practical effect of the subject education ability cultivation path for pre service English teachers

The author suggests conducting follow-up research on pre service English teachers during the education internship stage and after graduation, in order to comprehensively and deeply evaluate the practical effects and existing problems of the training path, and provide reference for further improvement.
