Professor Wang Lunyue's research path shifted from semiotics to Sinology, with a profound academic background, including obtaining a PhD in literature in France and becoming an expert in semiotics, and later pursuing a PhD in Sinology and becoming an expert in Confucianism. His semiotic research originated from the Sino French joint doctoral preparatory program at Wuhan University, with a strong interest in Zhuangzi's ideas and structuralist methodology. At the University of Paris VIII, he studied semiotics under Professor Gao Xuan and obtained his first doctoral degree, with Maurice Blanchard as his research subject. Wang Lunyue's semiotic research was influenced by linguistics and phenomenology, and these theories were later applied in his Sinology research.
