Professor Solonin's life experience is rich and colorful. He originally planned to develop in the academic field, but after the collapse of the Soviet Union, he had to open a travel agency to make a living. Nevertheless, he persisted in academic research and focused on Western Xia studies in his later life. His academic interest began with the study of Chinese Buddhism, which prompted him to go to Fo Guang University in Taiwan for academic exchanges. Fo Guang University is a comprehensive university founded by Master Hsing Yun, providing diverse subject education and attracting students from different backgrounds. Professor Soloning admires the elderly students there who are passionate about learning, even though their academic levels may vary.
