Introduced the 60th anniversary commemoration of Professor Marklin's teaching in China and the China Australia Forum on Cultural Exchange held at Beijing Foreign Studies University. More than 70 people attended, including Professor Jia Wenjian, President of Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Professor Caroline Evans, President of Griffith University. The commemorative event was hosted by Zhang Jian, Dean of the School of English at Beijing Foreign Studies University. Several guests delivered speeches, expressing congratulations and gratitude to Professor Marklin. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs) sent a congratulatory letter to the commemorative event, praising Professor Marklin's important contributions to cultural exchanges between China and Australia. During the sharing session, Professor Marklin's colleagues, friends, and students reviewed his teaching experience, academic achievements, and cultural exchanges between China and Australia at BFSU, expressing their respect and gratitude. At the afternoon China Australia Forum on Cultural Exchange, several scholars spoke on topics such as cultural exchange and regional studies, deepening the understanding and mutual trust between scholars from both countries. Li Jianjun, Director of the Australian Studies Center at Beijing Foreign Studies University, announced that in gratitude for Professor Marklin's contributions, BFSU has partnered with the Australian Research Foundation in China to establish the Australian Studies Chair Professor Program under the name of Professor Marklin, promoting high-level cultural exchanges between the two countries. Professor Marklin is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities, Emeritus Professor at Griffith University, Lifetime Honorary Professor at BFSU, and recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award. His main research areas include Australia China relations, Western Chinese image, Chinese ethnic minorities, and Chinese opera.
