The teaching content emphasizes the integration of professional knowledge and language instruction, enhancing both the interest and practicality of teaching. However, research on the development philosophy and compilation principles of Industrial Chinese textbooks in academia still requires strengthening.

This section delves into the value significance of developing Industrial Chinese textbooks. First, it clarifies the connotation of Industrial Chinese, noting that it belongs to Chinese for Specific Purposes and represents the practice of the "Chinese+" educational concept in the industrial field. Its aim is to cultivate local overseas talents who are proficient in both technology and language and culture. Second, it analyzes the characteristics of Industrial Chinese, including its external functions, internal attributes, and development trends, emphasizing its importance as a cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary educational model. 3 Practical Challenges in Developing Industrial Chinese Textbooks

This section discusses the current situation and challenges in developing Industrial Chinese textbooks. On one hand, Industrial Chinese textbooks have emerged in response to the segmentation of the international Chinese education market. Starting from pilot projects conducted by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, they have gradually expanded into multiple specialized fields. Over 30 textbooks have been published, covering many popular construction areas, effectively enhancing the Chinese communication skills and equipment utilization rates of foreign employees. On the other hand, development faces numerous challenges: a limited number of textbooks, restricted professional coverage, and a scarcity of language varieties; a monotonous textbook structure and insufficient digital teaching resources; inadequate integration between general Chinese and Industrial Chinese, as well as between language teaching and skill training; and incomplete bilingual and dual-teacher compilation teams, with homogeneous personnel structures and weak collaboration.

4 Practical Approaches to Developing Industrial Chinese Textbooks

This section discusses practical approaches to developing Industrial Chinese textbooks, emphasizing their importance in cultivating language skills for specific purposes. Since 2019, the author's team has compiled a series of Industrial Chinese textbooks covering nine professional fields, aiming to provide references for related textbook compilation. In terms of textbook compilation philosophy, drawing on needs analysis theory, the textbooks' positioning is clarified: focusing on listening and speaking while incorporating reading skills training to meet the Chinese communication needs of foreign employees in overseas Chinese enterprises and international students in domestic vocational colleges in industrial production scenarios. Simultaneously, based on the content-based instruction method, the integration of professional content and language teaching is emphasized to achieve the dual goals of language learning and skill enhancement. In terms of practical approaches, it is proposed to focus on serving strategic industries and urgently needed language varieties, prioritizing the expansion into key industrial fields such as manufacturing and mining, and developing multilingual textbooks to meet the learning needs of countries along the "Belt and Road" initiative. Additionally, emphasis is placed on constructing a learner-centered integrated teaching resource library, achieving deep integration of printed textbooks and digital resources, and utilizing advanced technologies to provide personalized learning experiences. The section also highlights the need to strengthen effective connections between general Chinese and Industrial Chinese, as well as between language learning and skill training, including aspects such as systematizing knowledge, standardizing professionalism, authenticating corpora, and rationalizing transitions, to ensure the scientific and practical nature of the textbooks. Finally, suggestions are made to build a composite compilation team integrating "language + technology + culture," improving the internationalization level and teaching capabilities of compilers through various measures to ensure textbook quality.
