1 Introduction

Emphasizing that cultivating moral character and nurturing talents is the fundamental task of education, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of ideological and political work in universities at the National Conference on Ideological and Political Work in Universities. The "Guidelines for the Construction of Ideological and Political Education in Higher Education Curriculum" and the "Guidelines for College English Teaching (2020 Edition)" issued by the Ministry of Education require the integration of ideological and political education into the talent cultivation system, and college English teaching should be integrated into the curriculum ideological and political teaching system. As a public basic course, college English is an important battlefield for universities to build a "big ideological and political" pattern. It should extract explicit educational elements, explore implicit educational elements, integrate the concept of collaborative education, and achieve the three in one educational goals of "value shaping, ability cultivation, and knowledge imparting". The Ministry of Education emphasizes that medical courses should strengthen medical ethics and conduct education in teaching, cultivate students' medical spirit, and enhance their comprehensive literacy and humanistic cultivation. General medical English contains rich ideological and political elements. In the context of the construction of new medicine, these educational elements should be fully explored to give full play to the educational role of the curriculum.

Exploration of Ideological and Political Education in Course 2

Explored the methods of integrating ideological and political education into general medical English courses, taking Unit 7 of Academic English (Medicine) as an example, aiming to achieve a deep integration of language learning and ideological and political education. Teaching practice includes three stages: pre class, in class, and post class. By deeply interpreting the textbook text, extracting educational elements, exploring ideological and political elements, and setting unit educational goals. Pre class activities include previewing the text and reflecting on language and ideological gains; Classroom activities involve the setting of medical ethics issues, group discussions, playback of audio-visual materials, problem design, as well as careful reading of texts and open-ended group discussions; After class activities include watching medical ethics related videos, writing reflections, and project-based collaborative learning. The teaching method emphasizes the cultivation of listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities, emphasizing the exercise of self-learning, cooperation, and teamwork. At the same time, it guides students to think about the importance of doctor-patient relationships, respect patient autonomy, engage in effective communication, and establish a harmonious doctor-patient relationship. Through these activities, students not only improve their language skills, but also deepen their understanding of medical ethics and conduct, achieving an organic integration of value shaping, ability cultivation, and knowledge transmission.

Three courses on ideological and political thinking

Explored the importance and practical path of ideological and political education in general medical English courses. Emphasis was placed on exploring educational elements through textbooks, such as disease status, prevention measures, etc., to cultivate students' sense of responsibility for medical science popularization and national identity. The course not only imparts language knowledge, but also enhances medical knowledge, improves independent thinking and teamwork skills. A student-centered approach to ideological and political education has been proposed, including selecting appropriate textbooks, diversifying teaching methods, utilizing information technology resources, setting topics to guide thinking, playing audio-visual materials, group discussions, and open-ended discussions. It also mentioned the addition of ideological and political audio-visual materials and project-based collaborative learning on after-school online platforms. Finally, the leading role of teachers in ideological and political education in the curriculum was emphasized, as well as the continuous improvement of teaching abilities through discussions and demonstrations, achieving a deep integration of teaching and educating students.

4 Conclusion

Explored how to extract explicit and implicit educational elements through textbooks in the general medical English curriculum, set ideological and political goals that integrate with unit themes, achieve the three goals of value shaping, ability cultivation, and knowledge transmission, and construct a comprehensive ideological and political education personality bureau. At the same time, it is pointed out that future research can be conducted at the macro level, such as textbook development, teacher philosophy transformation, and institutional guarantees. It emphasizes that the ideological and political education of college English courses requires English teachers to constantly explore and form a joint force of moral education and talent cultivation.
