AI 摘要

1 Introduction

Emphasis was placed on the importance of language and culture in foreign language teaching, and it was pointed out that cross-cultural competence is a key competency for foreign language talents in the new era. Foreign language textbooks, as carriers of language and cultural content, are crucial for achieving curriculum objectives and national education policies. In the new situation, the development and textbook construction of non lingua franca majors have become particularly important. Although the scale of talent cultivation for non common languages in Chinese universities has increased, there are still shortcomings in textbook construction. This study takes the 2002 edition of "New Romanian Language for Universities" by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press as the object, uses the cultural presentation analysis framework of foreign language textbooks to analyze their cultural presentation, and provides suggestions for the compilation of new generation Romanian language textbooks to promote the cultivation of non lingua franca professionals.

2 Literature Review

The progress of research on cultural presentation in foreign language textbooks was discussed, and it was pointed out that the research focuses on two aspects: presentation content and presentation methods. The methods of cultural content analysis are closely related to cultural views, including the views of element composition, symbol, process, and power and ideological struggle. There are various research methods, such as quantitative content analysis, symbolic analysis, and critical discourse analysis, to explore cultural themes, gender differences, value orientations, and national images in textbooks. The coding framework is crucial for content analysis, involving dimensions such as region, type, and theme. The research also focuses on cultural presentation methods, such as presenting cultural content through discourse, knowledge cards, and exercises. Although research on the cultural presentation of English textbooks has achieved certain results, there is still a need to strengthen research on the cultural presentation of other lingua franca and non lingua franca textbooks. This study focuses on "Newly Compiled Romanian Language for Universities" and aims to address the lack of research on cultural presentation in non lingua franca textbooks.

3 Research Design

This article introduces the design of the cultural presentation research in "New Romanian Language for Universities", aiming to answer which cultures are presented in the textbook and how they are presented. The study selected the textbook published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press in 2002 as the analysis object, which is widely used in Romanian language majors in Chinese universities. The research is based on a framework and conducts empirical research from three aspects: cultural regions, cultural types, and cultural presentation methods. Cultural regions include Romanian speaking countries' culture, Chinese culture, other countries' culture, and common culture; Cultural types include cultural products, cultural practices, cultural figures, cultural communities, and cultural concepts; Cultural presentation methods include cultural discourse, cultural knowledge sections, images/introductions/endnotes, background cultural information, and activities/exercises.

4 research findings

The research findings partially explore the characteristics of the "Newly Compiled Romanian Language for Universities" textbook in terms of cultural regions, cultural types, and cultural presentation methods. Cultural regional analysis shows that the intensity of cultural presentation in textbooks increases with the depth of teaching content, with Romanian speaking countries having the highest intensity of cultural presentation, followed by Chinese culture, and shared culture and other countries having lower intensity of cultural presentation. The textbook focuses on the culture of Romanian speaking countries, especially the Romanian ethnic culture, while incorporating elements of Chinese culture, common culture, and other national cultures. In terms of cultural types, textbooks place the greatest emphasis on cultural products, followed by cultural practices, cultural concepts, and cultural figures. The intensity of cultural community presentation is relatively low. The culture of Romanian speaking countries presents a balance among various types, while Chinese culture values cultural products and practices, and the intensity of cultural concepts is relatively high in shared cultures. In terms of cultural presentation, textbooks mainly use cultural discourse and background cultural information, supplemented by language exercises and cultural expression exercises. The cultural presentation of Romanian speaking countries is diverse, while the presentation of Chinese culture is relatively singular. The textbook promotes cultural exchange and integration between China and Romania through cultural co-occurrence content, but the quantity is limited. The presentation of Chinese culture is mostly based on cultural expression exercises, with low intensity and high repetition rate of cultural discourse and background cultural information. The textbook does not specifically include a section on Chinese cultural knowledge, possibly considering that students already have a certain understanding of Chinese culture.

5 Discussions

This chapter discusses the issues of cultural presentation in the textbook "New Romanian Language for Universities" and proposes improvement suggestions. Firstly, it is recommended to strengthen the overall design of cultural content in textbooks, optimize the distribution of culture in terms of region, type, theme, and presentation. Textbooks should increase the proportion of Chinese culture, especially in explicit presentation, and consider balanced distribution in each volume. At the same time, it is necessary to increase the introduction of Romanian ethnic minorities and the culture of the Republic of Moldova, as well as enrich the theme selection of shared cultures. Secondly, it is recommended to increase the presentation of cultural concepts in textbooks to cultivate students' cross-cultural interpretation and critical awareness. In addition, it is recommended that textbooks increase depth and diversity in implicit presentation, and comprehensively enhance students' cross-cultural abilities through exercise design. For example, by rewriting cultural discourse and designing related exercises, students can be guided to compare and analyze the cultural similarities and differences between China and Romania. Finally, it is recommended that textbooks make full use of multimodal resources such as images and videos to improve the effectiveness of cultural teaching. Textbooks can allocate the proportion of different types of images reasonably, and try to use new technologies such as AI animation to produce customized cultural content videos. Although technological development has provided convenience for the use of multimodal resources, the implementation of these tasks still requires support from relevant departments.

6 Conclusion

This article summarizes the analysis of the cultural presentation in the 2002 edition of the "New Romanian Language for Universities" textbook by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, aiming to provide reference for the compilation of non lingua franca textbooks. Research has found that textbooks have shortcomings in terms of geography, types, and presentation methods. It is recommended that teachers make appropriate adjustments to textbooks based on actual teaching situations to cultivate students' cross-cultural abilities. At the same time, it is pointed out that future research can conduct more in-depth analysis of the themes of cultural content in textbooks, in order to propose more targeted suggestions.
