The new challenges and opportunities faced by foreign language education in China under globalization and the the Belt and Road Initiative were discussed. The importance of cultivating compound foreign language talents with patriotism, global vision, and professional abilities was emphasized. Beijing Foreign Studies University, as a pioneer in non lingua franca teaching, promotes language exchange and educational cooperation with co built countries by offering 101 foreign language courses. The promulgation of the National Standards for the Quality of Foreign Language and Literature Teaching provides a new direction for teaching, emphasizing the cultivation of language proficiency, cross-cultural competence, critical thinking ability, and self-learning ability. The two lesson study papers published in this teaching column respectively explore the principles and methods of curriculum design under the background of new liberal arts, as well as effective methods to improve the efficiency of non lingua franca classroom teaching, providing reference for non lingua franca teaching practice and foreign language education research. Lesson study is of great significance in promoting teachers' professional development, improving teaching quality, and promoting educational innovation. With the deepening of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, it is expected that more educators will participate in the study of non common language lessons and contribute to the cultivation of foreign language talents in the new era.
