The development process and discipline construction of international Chinese education were discussed, and the recognition of Chinese as a second language teaching in the academic community and its lack of formal status in the national undergraduate major directory were pointed out. At the same time, the chapter emphasizes the importance of research on Chinese second language teaching and criticizes the excessive focus on supporting disciplines and overseas Chinese language teaching in current research, while neglecting Chinese second language teaching itself. The article calls on the industry to pay attention to the research of Chinese second language teaching, and introduces three related papers, which respectively involve teaching reflections on intermediate and advanced novel reading courses, theoretical summaries of intermediate and advanced Chinese second language cultural teaching, and the construction of Chinese character knowledge system.
