Huang Zongxi's ideology inherited Mencius' people-oriented concept, had an impact on modern democratic thought, and promoted the development of modern legal concepts in China. Huang Zongxi criticized the laws formulated by later monarchs to protect imperial power in his book "Ming Yi Dai Hui Lu: Original Laws", believing that these laws were not truly for the benefit of the people of the world.
