The new national standard GB 4943.1-2022 will be implemented on August 1, 2023, with the aim of improving the security level of electronic products. This standard combines two old standards to adapt to the development of information technology and align with international standards. The new national standard includes 10 chapters and 28 appendices, which comprehensively stipulate the safety requirements for electronic products, covering audio, video, information technology, and communication technology equipment. For consumers, the new national standard provides a solution to electronic product safety issues, such as wireless chargers needing to have the ability to identify metal foreign objects to prevent danger. The new national standard also takes into account China's specific national conditions, such as high altitude and tropical climate conditions, and adds special safety requirements. There is a transition period before the implementation of the standard, so that relevant departments can strengthen their certification and testing capabilities. After the official implementation, the State Administration for Market Regulation will conduct spot checks on electronic products in accordance with the new national standards to ensure compliance with requirements and protect consumer rights.
