1、 Introduction

This paper introduces the international influence of China's epidemic resistance against the background of the COVID-19 epidemic, and emphasizes China's achievements in epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development. At the same time, it is pointed out that the domestic academic community has gradually increased its attention to media reports related to China in Southeast Asian countries such as Laos. As an active participant of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, Laos' media coverage of China's epidemic resistance is of great significance. Existing research has mostly focused on Laotian official media, with insufficient attention paid to other mainstream media. Further research on the Chinese anti epidemic coverage by Laotian media will help deepen our understanding of Laotian media and provide reference for cooperation between the two countries in media and other fields.

2、 Research Object and Method

The research subjects are three mainstream media outlets in Laos: Pathet Lao News Agency, New Vientiane Daily, and Lao Entertainment Network, which have official authority and commercial media characteristics respectively. The research content is the reports of three media on China's epidemic resistance in 2020-2021. The sample source is 377 news reports involving the keywords "China" and "COVID-19". The research method adopts the framework theory to analyze the attitude and stance of mainstream media in Laos towards China's anti epidemic reporting from the perspectives of reporting themes, sources, issues, and attitudes.

3、 Research findings and discussions

Analyzed the themes, sources, topics, and attitudes of mainstream media in Laos towards China's anti epidemic reporting. Research has found that the reporting topics of Laotian media mainly focus on public health, international relations, and China's cooperation with countries around the world in the fight against the epidemic. The coverage changes over time, from initially focusing on the evolution of the epidemic to later focusing on vaccination and international cooperation. The main sources of reports are Chinese official media and self collected news, with less reference to Western media. The reported topics involve China's anti epidemic assistance, anti epidemic measures, international cooperation, and other aspects, with positive and neutral reports as the main focus, and no negative reports. Laotian media highly praised China's efforts in fighting against the epidemic and foreign aid, emphasizing that the mutual assistance and cooperation between China and Laos in the fight against the epidemic will help shape China's image as a major country and deepen the good relationship between China and Laos.

3、 Research conclusions and prospects

Summarized the characteristics of mainstream media coverage of China's anti epidemic efforts in Laos from 2020 to 2021. The reporting topics focus on public health and international relations, and are adjusted according to the changes in the epidemic. The sources of the report are mainly Chinese media and self collected news, with official media often reprinting Chinese official media such as Xinhua News Agency, and commercial media sources being more diverse. The reported topics mainly focus on six aspects: China's anti epidemic measures, the number of infections and vaccine injections, medical progress, international cooperation, foreign aid, and the impact of the epidemic. Among them, "China's foreign anti epidemic aid" has the largest coverage. The Laotian media has portrayed a positive image of China's active anti epidemic efforts, support for friendly neighboring countries, and strong medical capabilities, reflecting the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. The positive coverage of Laotian media also stems from the long-term cooperation between the two countries in the fields of media and public health. In the context of the "the Belt and Road" and the "community of shared future for mankind", strengthening media and public health cooperation with Laos and other countries is of positive significance for deepening bilateral relations and stabilizing China's image as a great power.
