Professor Zhang Jianhua proposed in his book "Theoretical Reflection and Creative Criticism of Russian Literature" to expand the disciplinary terminology system and construct a new canonical system for Russian literature. He advocates that the study of Chinese and Russian literature should break away from the attitude of "translation and introduction", draw on the achievements of modern and contemporary literature in China, and provide inspiration for the Russian language academic community. At the same time, he advocates rewriting literary history to ensure that more texts are equally included in the canonical system. Chinese scholars have been limited by institutional, disciplinary, and ideological frameworks when studying Russian literature, resulting in slow research development. With the breaking of academic barriers and the growth of a new generation of scholars, Chinese scholars have begun to introduce new critical terms such as "discourse," "narrative," "syndrome," etc. to replace outdated terms. Professor Zhang Jianhua is a representative figure in promoting this update. He combines the terminology resources in Chinese modern and contemporary literary criticism with textual analysis of Russian literary works, proposing concepts such as "New Enlightenment Discourse" and "Primitive Narrative". These terms not only enrich the terminology database of Chinese and Russian literature research, but also provide new research perspectives and methods for Chinese scholars. Meanwhile, Professor Zhang Jianhua also pointed out that the transplantation and grafting of critical terms need to consider the differences in historical contexts and literary works between the two countries, and avoid simple appropriation.
