This expert themed forum focuses on the revision and grading certification of the International Chinese Teacher Standards. In December 2019, the project was officially established, and the R&D team was composed of core members of Peking University, Beijing Normal University, East China Normal University and Renmin University of China. 28 universities and institutions from 13 countries participated in the drafting. In January 2020, the project team started the research and development work at Peking University. Under the COVID-19, the discussion was carried out in the form of online conference, focusing on the construction of the standard framework, the differentiation of four different levels of teacher standards, and the commonness and individuality of foreign language teacher standards in other countries. At the beginning of 2021, the project team proposed the "integrated and diversified" certification principle, dividing certification into three levels. After extensive solicitation of opinions, large-scale investigation and research, academic seminars and work meetings, the new standard was released in the form of a group standard of the World Chinese Language Teaching Association in August 2022. The full name of the new standard is the "International Professional Competence Standards for Chinese Language Teachers", which emphasizes "professional competence" as the core, including "professional philosophy", "professional knowledge", "professional skills", "professional practice" and "professional development". The new standard reflects the integration of disciplines, such as "educational knowledge" covering education, educational psychology, cognitive science, etc., and "educational technology" as a secondary indicator. Standards are the product of disciplinary construction and career development, and each standard is a research topic. We look forward to the attention and research of the academic community, and contribute wisdom to the revision of standards and the development of disciplines.
