This article introduces the concept of cultural loaded words and their research status in different fields, pointing out that domestic research mostly focuses on Chinese culture and its translation, while there is relatively little research on cultural loaded words in French literature and its Chinese translations. The article takes "The Vice Consul" as an example and adopts the principle of embodied linguistics to analyze the translation strategies of cultural loaded words in the Chinese translations of Song Xuezhi and Wang Dongliang, aiming to supplement the research on the Chinese translation of French literature and enrich the domestic research on "The Vice Consul".

1、 Cognitive Linguistics and Translation

Cognitive linguistics emphasizes the connection between language and real-world experiences and cognitive processing, believing that translation is a complex cross linguistic cognitive activity that involves the cognitive styles of different ethnic groups. The difficulty of translation lies in cultural differences, and the translation of cultural loaded words requires exploring cognitive differences between languages. Cognitive linguistics has been used to explain the English translation of cultural loaded words in Chinese idioms and "Li Sao". The translation process goes from the linguistic level to the cognitive and practical level, involving changes in the cognitive chain of the original word meaning. Translators need to pay attention to cognitive barriers between word meanings and phonetics, between word meanings, and between word meanings and culture.
