In depth exploration of the origin and development of the concept of "discourse", it is pointed out that discourse analysis, as an interdisciplinary research method, challenges traditional structuralist linguistics by not only studying language units but also focusing on the relationship between language and socio-cultural issues. Critical discourse analysis, as a mainstream method, reveals the ideological and power relations in language use, but there is a binary opposition between theoretical understanding and research practice, and a lack of cross-cultural awareness. The cultural discourse research paradigm proposed by Shi Xu is a reflection on the Western discourse research system, emphasizing cultural consciousness and cultural politics, and focusing on the cultural characteristics behind verbal communication events. The overall analytical framework of cultural discourse research covers six categories: discourse subject, content/form, media use, purpose/effect, cultural relations, and historical relations, providing a new perspective for research.
