This paper explores the importance of enhancing students' autonomous learning ability in English teaching, which is in line with the latest curriculum standards. Zhejiang Province's high school English teaching and research focuses on cultivating self-directed learning abilities, with a focus on reading instruction through specialized research and training activities. The paper group includes four papers, which respectively discuss autonomous reading teaching strategies based on the main problem, intermediate reading teaching strategies, immersive text reading experience, and the cultivation of students' meaning construction ability. These papers emphasize the comprehensive consideration of multiple factors such as teaching content, task difficulty, time, and ability, as well as the application of knowledge and concepts by teachers to practice and cultivate students for self-directed learning.
