It emphasizes that teachers should pay attention to the comprehensive development of all students in the educational process, especially those whose grades are temporarily lagging behind. Studying students with learning difficulties is of great significance for education. Teachers need to comprehensively analyze the reasons for the academic difficulties of students with learning difficulties without increasing their academic burden, and take targeted measures to help them.

Research background

The importance of the "Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards (2022 Edition)" in guiding learning strategies was emphasized, and the positive role of previewing in improving students' learning abilities and core competencies was pointed out. Preview helps students identify confusion in advance, improve listening efficiency, enhance reading and thinking qualities, and alleviate anxiety, thereby improving learning efficiency. The study selected 15 third grade students with English learning difficulties, who generally have problems such as lack of interest in English, lack of motivation, weak basic knowledge, and improper learning methods. By designing and optimizing preview sheets, the research aims to help these students improve their English learning ability, cultivate their ability to guess new words, analyze texts, and learn independently.

The action research process of three stages is described in detail, aiming to promote the transformation of English learning difficulties among third grade primary school students through preview sheets. The first stage (September to November 2021) focuses on the design of the preview form, following cognitive rules, and stimulating the learning interest of students with learning difficulties through activities such as writing and listening, helping them understand the unit theme and dialogue content. The second phase (November 2021 to January 2022) emphasizes the importance of teaching content, using survey based preview sheets and adding reading materials to tailor teaching to students with learning difficulties, and paying attention to their personalized needs. The third stage (March to July 2022) focuses on cultivating students' self-learning ability, guiding students with learning difficulties to gradually master learning strategies and improve learning outcomes through three steps: perception and accumulation, acquisition and construction, and communication and expression.

Emphasis was placed on the importance of teachers' reasonable use of preview sheets for English learning of students with learning difficulties, and it was pointed out that teachers need to comprehensively consider textbooks and learning situations, especially the needs of students with learning difficulties, when designing preview sheets. At the same time, teachers should use preview feedback to adjust teaching strategies, shifting from "teaching determines learning" to inspiring students' active learning attitude.
