1、 Introduction

This article introduces the historical status and role of ancient Mongolian education in the enlightenment education of Chinese children, as well as its feasibility and practice in international Chinese education. Primary education originated in ancient times and was widely used during the Qing Dynasty. It is an important component of traditional Chinese language education. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Western missionaries learned Chinese through the use of elementary school textbooks, such as the Three Character Classic. In modern Chinese teaching practice, elementary learning factors such as reciting ancient poems and recognizing couplets have been included in textbooks. The author conducted teaching, research, and testing on international students of different levels using traditional and modern teaching methods at Beijing Foreign Studies University, and achieved good results. The study analyzed the important role of the content and methods of elementary school teaching in improving Chinese language acquisition ability and promoting learners' exposure to Chinese culture.

2、 The Teaching Content and Methods of Ancient Mongolian Education

Deeply explored the application of ancient Mongolian education in Chinese language teaching, and analyzed the teaching content and methods of Mongolian education. As an ancient children's enlightenment education, elementary school covers four aspects: moral ethics, Chinese character foundation, cultural knowledge, and language skills. Moral education occupies a core position in primary education, and traditional Confucian ethics are taught through textbooks such as the "Classic of Filial Piety". Chinese character basic education is the core of primary education, based on textbooks such as "three, one hundred, and one thousand", teaching Chinese character recognition, reading, and writing. Cultural knowledge education enriches the content of primary education, including knowledge of museums, literature, politics, history, etc., which helps children understand the world and cultivate their character. Chinese language skills education focuses on training in language forms such as rhyme and parallelism, serving writing teaching. Ancient Mongolian education developed an effective teaching method, such as lectures on classics, concentrated recognition and writing, recitation and memorization, and targeted training. These teaching contents and methods are feasible in modern international Chinese education and can be compatible with Chinese language teaching content, which is particularly important for advanced learners.

3、 Classroom Practice of Applying Ancient Mongolian Learning to International Chinese Language Teaching

This chapter of the paper explores in detail the practical application of ancient Mongolian education in international Chinese language teaching, divided into three stages. In the first stage from autumn 2011 to autumn 2012, 73 students from 17 countries, especially 24 Japanese beginners, were surveyed. By teaching ancient poetry recitation and utilizing prosody to promote Chinese phonetic understanding, good results were achieved. In the second stage from autumn 2012 to spring 2016, based on the "Enlightenment of Confucian Classics" course, 151 students, mainly Malaysian students, were surveyed. The "Three Character Classic" was used as the textbook, combined with traditional elementary education teaching methods, to strengthen their Chinese language acquisition ability and Chinese culture learning. The third stage, from spring 2017 to spring 2020, surveyed 168 students from 11 countries through the course of "Appreciation of Famous Chinese Prose Novels", introducing elementary education methods such as recitation, literacy, copying, and memorization to enhance understanding and awareness of Chinese culture.

4、 Suggestions for Applying Mongolian Education to International Chinese Language Teaching

Seven suggestions were put forward for applying elementary education to international Chinese language teaching. Firstly, the setting of courses for primary education majors should be based on the premise of students' Chinese language foundation and balanced class level, and the teaching method of primary education can be applied to other types of courses. Secondly, the teaching content should be selected according to the students' level. The primary stage is suitable for reciting simple ancient poems, while the Three Character Classic is suitable for senior students. Thirdly, teaching methods should be selected according to the type of lesson. Recitation, memorization, and copying are effective means, but skill training such as confrontation and couplets need to be improved. Fourthly, the content of elementary education should not exceed 1/5 of the teaching time in Chinese classrooms as a teaching supplement. Fifth, early childhood education courses should adopt small class teaching to improve teaching effectiveness. Sixth, the teaching methods of primary education should keep pace with the times, combining new media and technologies, such as the "lecture on classics" method in online teaching. Finally, moral and ethical education in primary education should incorporate Confucianism and teach virtues through "lectures on classics", which is applicable to international Chinese language teaching. These suggestions provide feasibility and operability for introducing the Mongolian teaching method into Chinese language teaching, but further research and practice are still needed.
